The Dungarvon Whooper – Canada
Nearest city: Renous, New Brunswick
In the late 1800s, a young cook working at a remote lumber camp near the Dungarvon River was murdered for his money belt and hastily buried in the snow. Soon after, the camp was plagued by terrifying, inhuman screams echoing through the forest at night. Lumberjacks fled in fear, and to this day locals report hearing the “whoop” — a chilling cry said to be the murdered man’s spirit. The Dungarvon Whooper has become one of New Brunswick’s most famous ghost stories, retold in song and legend.
