Devil’s Den – USA

Devil’s Den – USA

Nearest city: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

This boulder-strewn outcropping was the scene of savage fighting on July 2, 1863, when Union sharpshooters clashed with advancing Confederate forces. The ground ran red with blood, and bodies were said to have lain among the rocks for days. Since then, Devil’s Den has become one of Gettysburg’s most notorious paranormal hotspots. Visitors frequently report hearing phantom gunfire and disembodied shouts, and photographs taken here often reveal ghostly soldiers peering from between the stones. Rangers tell of tourists encountering a barefoot “gray-clad” Confederate who speaks briefly before vanishing into thin air. The eerie combination of history and legend makes Devil’s Den a cornerstone of Gettysburg’s haunted landscape.
