Yuma Territorial Prison – USA

Nearest city: Yuma, Arizona

Opened in 1876, the Yuma Territorial Prison housed over 3,000 inmates during its 33-year operation and earned the nickname “Hell Hole of the West.” Despite progressive features like electricity and a library, its infamous Dark Cell — a pitch-black solitary chamber; became the epicenter of paranormal lore. Visitors report screams, cold spots and an oppressive presence in the cell, with some claiming spirits yell “Get out!” to intruders. Other hauntings include John Ryan, who died by suicide in Cell 14 and a girl in a red dress who pinches guests wearing red. Poltergeist activity is reported in the gift shop, with coins flying from registers and objects moving on their own.
