These now-abandoned apartments once housed workers from the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company. In 1977, the factory abruptly shut down, leaving 5,000 workers jobless and shattering the local community. The sudden loss and subsequent tragedies, including several suicides have left a palpable sadness in the 146 deserted units. Visitors and urban explorers describe ghostly figures at the windows, disembodied voices and an overwhelming sense of sorrow that haunts the empty halls to this day.
