Part of Wright Field, later absorbed into Wright-Patterson AFB, Hangar 18 is central to American UFO legend. After the 1947 Roswell crash, conspiracy researchers claim wreckage and even alien bodies were secretly flown here for storage and study. The Air Force has always denied this, but rumors persist of a sealed “Blue Room” hidden inside, where extraterrestrial technology was examined. Former military personnel and contractors have spoken of heavy security, unusual aircraft parts, and files that vanished without explanation. Wright-Patt’s documented role as the headquarters of Project Blue Book (1952–1969), and repeated Freedom of Information requests naming “Hangar 18,” have only deepened speculation.
