Opened in 1888, the Banff Springs Hotel — known as the “Castle in the Rockies” it is as famous for its ghost stories as its luxury. The spirit of a bride who tragically fell down a staircase is said to appear in her wedding gown, while Room 873 is sealed off after reports of a murdered family’s lingering presence. Guests also tell of Sam the Bellman, a friendly ghost still helping with luggage long after his death. Frequently featured in paranormal documentaries, it remains one of Canada’s most haunted hotels.
