Case Overview

What happened at Swansea?

Founded in the early 1900s as a copper mining town, Swansea boomed briefly with a smelter, saloons, and a small community before collapsing in the 1930s when the ore ran out. Visitors and paranormal groups report phantom footsteps, voices in the wind, and shadowy figures wandering the ruins, especially near the old mine shafts. Its isolation in the Arizona desert makes Swansea one of the state’s most atmospheric ghost towns.
