Built in 1796, the Myrtles Plantation is steeped in ghost stories and legends. The most famous spirit is Chloe, an enslaved woman said to have been executed after poisoning the family, who is often photographed as a shadowy figure in a turban. Visitors also report children’s laughter, phantom footsteps on the grand staircase, and mirrors that refuse to stay clean. With claims of up to twelve ghosts haunting the grounds, the plantation has been featured on numerous paranormal shows and remains a popular destination for ghost tours in Louisiana.
