Millennium Biltmore Hotel – USA

Nearest city: Los Angeles, California

Opened in 1923, the Millennium Biltmore Hotel is one of Los Angeles’s most iconic historic hotels—and a long-standing hotspot for ghost sightings linked to Hollywood’s Golden Age. Staff and guests report a woman in a flowing black gown drifting through the 11th-floor hallway, believed to be a former guest who died mysteriously in the 1930s. The most famous association is the 1947 disappearance of Elizabeth Short, the “Black Dahlia,” who was last seen alive in the hotel’s lobby; her apparition has reportedly been seen near the old telephone banks and mezzanine level. Several suites report phantom parties, with 1920s music and clinking glasses heard through closed, empty rooms, echoing the hotel’s Prohibition-era galas and secret gatherings. Security staff have repeatedly documented shadow figures crossing the ballroom balcony long after events end, solidifying the Biltmore’s reputation as one of downtown LA’s most active haunted hotels.
