MacRitchie Reservoir – Singapore
Nearest city: Central Water Catchment

This dense jungle site is anchored by the grave of Lim Bo Seng, a WWII resistance hero whose burial site is a major hotspot for “phantom salutes” and sightings of spectral soldiers in 1940s-era uniforms. The most active modern location is the Jelutong Tower; visitors frequently document the sensation of being pushed on the spiral stairs and capture “shadow figures” peering over the railings when the tower is officially closed. Deep in the off-limits forest lies the ruins of Syonan Jinja, where the “Divine Bridge” is said to be guarded by the restless spirits of the Japanese soldiers who committed ritual suicide there in 1945. Modern footage from local explorers often features unexplainable “electronic voice phenomena” (EVPs) near the water’s edge, believed to be the “Water Ghosts” of those who drowned during the reservoir’s construction. The area is also a noted site for Pontianak sightings, specifically near the frangipani trees flanking the Lim Bo Seng memorial, marked by a sudden, overwhelming scent of jasmine and rot.
