Dearg Due- The Irish Vampire – Ireland

In Irish folklore, the Dearg Due (“red bloodsucker”) is a vampiric spirit said to rise from her grave at night to prey on men. According to legend, she was a young woman forced into a loveless marriage who died of despair, only to return for revenge. She lures men with her beauty before draining their blood. Unlike the Slavic vampire, she is distinctly Irish and is said to be buried beneath a stone cairn near Waterford. Locals still place stones on graves to prevent her rising.
