What is now a tree-lined urban park in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood was once Prospect Hill Cemetery, then later a graveyard full of early settlers, vagrants, criminals, and paupers. When bodies were moved to create the park, rumors say many were left buried or improperly reburied; some bones were unearthed during later construction projects. Ghost stories include shadowy figures at dusk, whispers over the lawns, and a pervasive feeling of unease, especially near the old pavilion ruins. The park’s history inspired the 1980 film The Changeling, rooted in alleged paranormal encounters in a nearby house in 1969.
