This legendary lake monster first “seen” in 1609 and forever popularized by Sandra Mansi’s 1977 photo, is a water serpent of local legend. Modern-day accounts continue: multiple summer sightings in Bulwagga Bay surfaced in the early 2000s, and filmmakers recently discovered a creature-like shape near a boat in drone footage from 2024’s Lucy and the Lake Monster. Locals also note unsettling underwater sounds recorded in 2003 that resemble cetacean echo, location which is odd since no whales or dolphins live in the lake.
