Case Overview
What happened at Batsquatch?
The Batsquatch legend emerged in the wake of the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, when witnesses claimed to see a 9-foot winged humanoid with bat-like wings and yellow eyes in the surrounding forests. The most cited encounter took place in April 1994 when 18-year-old Brian Canfield reported his truck stalling near a remote road, then suddenly a large winged creature landed on the hood and stared at him before flying away. Although sightings remain sporadic, 2024-25 coverage highlights renewed social-media posts and local reports of large flying figures in the woodlands near the Cascades, maintaining the Batsquatch as a modern Pacific Northwest cryptid.
