1889 Mclnteer Villa – USA
Nearest city: Atchison, Kansas

This 1889 Queen Anne mansion is a cornerstone of Midwest hauntings, housing nine documented deaths and a reputed “spiritual portal” in its brick-walled basement. The most famous entity is Isobel Altus (nicknamed “Goldie”), an eccentric violinist who died in the house; her favorite rocking chair is frequently filmed moving in sync with EVPs, even appearing in modern TikTok and YouTube thermal footage. A more somber presence is Charles Donovan, who committed suicide on the second floor in 1922 and is blamed for the heavy, rhythmic footsteps heard pacing the hallway. The “Lady in the Window” is often identified as Isobel in her signature black dress, appearing in the tower despite the space having no electricity or floorboards. Modern visitors also report the phantom cries of Romona Wood, a four-year-old who died there in 1929, often accompanied by the scent of powdery perfume and cigarette smoke.
