Dragholm Castle – Denmark
Nearest city: Hørve, Zealand
Dating to c.1215, Dragsholm later served as a state prison. Its signature ghosts are the Grey Lady, the White Lady (corroborated when a female skeleton in a white dress was found sealed in a wall during 1930s renovations) and Bothwell, said to thunder through the courtyard in a horse-drawn carriage at night. Today’s castle hotel keeps the legends alive with recurring reports of footsteps, cold spots and phantom hoofbeats.
