Pennhurst Asylum – USA

Nearest city: Spring City, Pennsylvania

Opened in 1908 as the Eastern Pennsylvania State Institution for the Feeble-Minded and Epileptic, Pennhurst quickly became notorious for abuse, neglect, and eugenics-based segregation. After its closure in 1987, the site gained a reputation for intense paranormal activity, including apparitions, disembodied voices, and violent physical contact. The most active areas include Quaker Hall, where visitors report being scratched or shoved, and the underground tunnels, where investigators have captured EVPs, shadow figures, and growling sounds. Some reports also mention satanic rituals and dark entities believed to have been drawn to the residual trauma.
