Yeongdeok Haunted House – South Korea
Nearest city: Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang Province
Widely cited as one of South Korea’s three most haunted locations, the Yeongdeok Haunted House is a derelict seaside structure situated on a hill overlooking Jangsari Beach. Local lore maintains that the house was built directly over a mass grave containing hundreds of student soldiers who perished during a diversionary mission at the Battle of Jangsari during the Korean War. Former owners and residents reportedly fled the property due to unexplained illnesses, mental breakdowns, and sightings of a long-haired spectral woman descending the main staircase. Paranormal investigators and thrill-seekers frequently report intense physical symptoms upon entry, including sudden nausea and throbbing headaches, as well as the disembodied sound of young boys crying for help. Despite its prime coastal location, the building remains a decaying shell in 2026, serving as a grim monument to the tragic wartime history of the land it occupies.
