Yara-Ma-Yha-Who

The Yara-Ma-Yha-Who is a lesser-known but deeply creepy figure from Aboriginal mythology, said to resemble a small, red-skinned humanoid with suction-cup fingers and toes. According to Dreamtime stories, it drops from fig trees to drain the blood of unwary travelers—transforming its victims over repeated attacks. The legend is mostly rooted in oral tradition from the rainforests and mountains of New South Wales and Queensland.
