Founded in 1879 during a silver mining boom, Tombstone quickly became one of the most violent and lawless towns of the American West. Its turbulent history — including the infamous O.K. Corral shootout, brothel murders and mining deaths has left behind a dense network of haunted buildings, ghost sightings and residual trauma. Paranormal hotspots include the Bird Cage Theatre (site of 26 documented deaths), Boothill Graveyard, Big Nose Kate’s Saloon and Schieffelin Hall, where spirits of cowboys, prostitutes, and performers are frequently reported. Apparitions in 1800s attire, phantom gunshots, disembodied voices and poltergeist activity are common. Some investigators believe the town’s ley line intersections and mineral-rich soil amplify spiritual energy.
