Case Overview

What happened at The Magnolia Hotel?

Built in 1840 by Texas Ranger James Campbell, the Magnolia Hotel has served as a stagecoach stop, brothel, jail and boarding house, and is now a bed and breakfast renowned for its paranormal activity. The most infamous spirit is Emma Voelcker, a 12-year-old girl murdered in nearby New Braunfels in 1874 by Wilhelm Faust, who allegedly hid out at the hotel afterward. Emma’s ghost is said to interact with toys and emit the scent of baby powder. Other spirits include Ms. Rosebud, a former madam whose perfume is often smelled, and Mr. Deavors, a music teacher and convicted murderer who reportedly never leaves his room. Paranormal phenomena include black mist, EVPs, cold spots and disembodied voices, documented by Ghost Adventures, Ghost Brothers, and local investigators.
