Built in 1862, the St. Charles Historic Hotel is the oldest continuously operating hotel in Nevada and has long been at the center of Carson City’s ghost stories. Staff, guests and local paranormal investigators have reported shadowy figures in the hallways, unexplained footsteps in the upstairs rooms and doors opening or closing on their own. The hotel is featured in local ghost tours and was recently highlighted by KOLO-TV (2022) and the Nevada Appeal, with new stories of strange activity continuing to surface on travel review sites and in paranormal forums as of 2024.
