Completed in 1874, the St. Augustine Lighthouse stands on Anastasia Island and remains an active aid to navigation—and one of America’s best-studied haunted locations. During its construction, three daughters of the site’s superintendent drowned when a work cart overturned into the water; since then, staff and visitors have reported children’s laughter, footsteps on the spiral stairs, and shadow figures at the top landing. Paranormal teams, including Ghost Hunters (2006, 2018), have captured EVPs, unexplained heat signatures, and doors opening on camera.
