Race Rock Lighthouse – USA
Nearest city: Long Island Sound, Connecticut

Completed in 1878, Race Rock Lighthouse sits on a wave-battered reef and is associated with sightings of a former lighthouse keeper, often identified in local lore as George Washington Rockwell, seen moving through the keeper’s quarters. Crews have reported footsteps on metal stairs, doors opening on their own, and lights activating without power during overnight stays. One recurring account describes a male figure staring out to sea from the lantern level before vanishing. Its extreme isolation and long keeper history have made Race Rock one of Long Island Sound’s most enduring lighthouse hauntings.
