Poinsett Bridge – USA
Nearest city: Greenville, South Carolina
ompleted in 1820, Poinsett Bridge is the oldest surviving bridge in South Carolina and one of its most persistent sources of ghost reports. Built from hand-cut stone under the direction of Joel R. Poinsett, the U.S. ambassador for whom the poinsettia flower is named, the bridge has been linked to tales of a mason who fell into wet mortar and was entombed alive. Visitors describe a greenish glow beneath the arch, phantom lanterns swaying along the creek, and an unseen force that blocks those who try to cross at midnight. Thermal cameras have recorded cold spots centered under the keystone, and EVP sessions often capture a single word: “Go.”
