Zimbabwe’s highest peak, Mount Nyangani, has long been feared by the Shona and Manyika peoples as a gateway to the spirit world, where travellers vanish without trace. Since the 1970s, witnesses have reported glowing discs and vertical beams of light descending into its mist-filled ravines, inspiring theories of a hidden alien base. In the 1980s, the site appeared in CIA-linked remote-viewing tasking lists as a “possible non-human underground structure” in southern Africa. Local authorities attribute the lights to ngozi spirits and treacherous weather, but modern researchers continue to record electromagnetic fluctuations around the summit.
