Huguang Guild Hall was built in 1807 and among the city’s “Four Great Opera Theaters”, this storied Peking Opera venue was allegedly erected atop an ancient graveyard; sparking legends of restless spirits beneath its ornate stage. Visitors claim to have heard scolding voices when tossing a stone into its courtyard, and reports emerge of ghostly silhouettes drifting through the auditorium even without secret entrances or exits.
