Hotel Waldlust – Germany
Nearest city: Freudenstadt, Baden-Württemberg
Built in 1902, the Hotel Waldlust was once a luxury retreat for European nobility and film stars visiting the Black Forest spa town of Freudenstadt. During and after World War II, the hotel served as both a military hospital and temporary base for occupying forces. Staff and visitors later reported seeing a woman in white, believed to be a murdered proprietor’s wife, wandering the upper floors. Other accounts mention footsteps pacing empty hallways and piano music from the abandoned ballroom. The building has stood largely vacant since the 1980s but remains a focus for professional paranormal teams, whose 2020s investigations have captured EVP recordings and unexplained thermal anomalies. With its preserved Art Deco interior and layered history, Waldlust has become one of Europe’s most documented haunted hotels.
