This tranquil preserve hides a tragic past: in 1973, four teenagers were murdered here in what became known as the Gitchie Manitou Murders. Since then, visitors report ghostly screams, phantom gunshots, and apparitions wandering the woods at night. The land itself holds deeper mystery too, with ancient Native American burial mounds said to give the area a lingering spiritual presence.
