Case Overview

What happened at Drummond Bridge?

Built in the late 1800s to serve local coal trains, Drummond Bridge is tied to one of Tennessee’s most enduring ghost stories. According to legend, Union sympathizer Richard Drummond was captured by Confederate soldiers during the Civil War and hanged from the bridge’s beams as punishment. Locals say his spirit never left. Visitors report apparitions of a swinging body, phantom footsteps on the bridge, and the sound of rope creaking in the wind on still nights. The site is now a notorious haunted landmark in Anderson County.
