Case Overview

What happened at D’Mello House?

This decaying ancestral mansion is the site of a 19th-century fratricide involving two brothers, Simon and Joseph D’Mello, who famously killed each other during a violent dispute over the family fortune. Local villagers avoid the property after dark, claiming the brothers’ spirits are locked in a perpetual “residual” loop of their final argument. The most documented modern activity is the sound of shattering glass and heavy furniture being overturned in the dining hall, though investigators always find the rooms undisturbed and empty upon entry. Witnesses frequently report a “limping shadow” moving across the overgrown balcony, believed to be the elder brother who was injured during the struggle. Recent paranormal expeditions have captured distinct, high-decibel “cracking” sounds on audio recorders, which locals interpret as the spectral splintering of the brothers’ original teakwood chests.
