Clocaenog Forest

Spanning over 40 square miles of remote woodland, Clocaenog Forest is known for both modern tragedy and deep-rooted Welsh folklore. In 1985, the mutilated body of an unidentified man—later dubbed the “Clocaenog Forest Man”—was found near a logging track, sparking one of Wales’s most disturbing unsolved murder cases. Locals long before that spoke of spectral figures moving between the pines and eerie laughter echoing from the hills, said to be the Tylwyth Teg (fair folk) luring travelers astray. Hikers and paranormal investigators report sudden temperature drops, glowing eyes in the treeline, and electronic interference deep within the forest, which remains one of North Wales’s most mysterious landscapes.
