Cerro Gordo Ghost Town – USA
Nearest city: Inyo Mountains, California
Founded in 1865 after the discovery of silver by Pablo Flores, Cerro Gordo became California’s largest producer of silver and lead by the 1870s. The town’s violent reputation including gunfights, murders and lawlessness earned it the nickname “Fat Hill” and a legacy of hauntings. Paranormal reports include phantom miners, disembodied voices, shadow figures, and cold spots, especially in the Belshaw House, American Hotel ruins and charcoal kilns. Visitors describe EVPs, battery drain and feelings of dread, particularly near the mine shafts and cemetery. The town is also rumored to sit atop a spiritual vortex, intensified by ley line intersections and mineral-rich soil.
