Beast of Dartmoor – England

Since the 1980s, residents and visitors to Dartmoor have reported encounters with a huge, black, panther-like creature roaming the moors. Eyewitnesses describe a powerful predator stalking livestock, with sheep and ponies found mutilated in ways suggestive of a large cat. While police investigations and photographic “evidence” have surfaced, no conclusive proof of big cats living wild on Dartmoor has been produced. The legend ties into wider UK phantom big cat lore, but Dartmoor’s desolate landscape has given this beast a special notoriety.
