Al Madam Village – UAE
Nearest city: Sharjah, near Dubai

Half‑buried beneath drifting desert sands, this village built in the 1970s for the Al Ketbi tribe was largely abandoned by the 1990s due to relentless dune encroachment and harsh living conditions. Local legend adds that jinns, particularly the fearsome Umm Al Duwais, haunted the homes with eerie laughter and malevolent presence, driving residents away in fear. Today, the sand-filled houses and mosque stand as silent, haunted relics- hauntingly beautiful and a favorite stop for thrill-seekers.
