Rooted in Cherokee traditions of the “Snotty Nose” (a localized Sasquatch-type entity), this 8-foot-tall, grey-haired predator has been terrorizing the Ozark foothills since a surge of sightings in the early 1970s. Unlike typical reclusive cryptids, the Adair Beast is noted for its predatory intelligence, reportedly “stacking” large stones to block rural backroads and mimicking the sounds of human whistling to lure witnesses into the brush. Modern activity is concentrated near the Barren Fork Creek, where locals document 16-inch, four-toed tracks and the discovery of “deer kills” cached high in the canopy of oak trees. Recent 2024 audio recordings from the Bell community highlight a unique “metallic-sounding” scream that resonates at frequencies known to cause physical nausea in humans. The most chilling aspect is the “window-peeping” behavior reported by residents, who describe a massive, flat-nosed face watching them from heights unreachable by a normal man.
