Built in 1354 by Sultan Feroz Shah Tughlaq, this sprawling fortress ruin is the primary urban hotspot for Djinn activity in India. Unlike a traditional haunting, the entities here are believed to be invisible, sentient beings made of “smokeless fire” who have inhabited the ruins for centuries. The site is a living paranormal archive; every Thursday, thousands of people gather to leave written letters, photocopies of government IDs, and offerings of rose petals and incense to the Djinn, asking for help with legal battles, health issues, or family disputes. The energy is most intense within the subterranean chambers beneath the Lat (the 13-meter Ashokan pillar), where the air is thick with the scent of burning oil and the walls are blackened by thousands of candles.

The most documented reports involve the “Laton wale Baba,” the chief Djinn believed to reside in the Minar-e-Zarrin (the pillar tower). Witnesses describe sudden, localized “wind tunnels” in the underground cells and the sensation of being touched by invisible hands.
