Case Overview
What happened at Queen Anne Hotel?
The Queen Anne Hotel is haunted by Mary Lake, the former headmistress of Miss Mary Lake’s School for Girls, which occupied the building in the late 19th century before it became a hotel. Guests most often report Mary tucking them into bed, moving personal items, sitting on the edge of mattresses, or “checking on” sleepers, with Room 410 consistently named as her favourite. Unlike many hotel spirits, Mary is described as maternal and protective rather than threatening, making her one of San Francisco’s most recognisable and unusually gentle named ghosts.
