Opened in 1871 as the world’s first purpose-built electric lighthouse, Souter Lighthouse is linked to sightings of a former keeper seen climbing the spiral stairs and pausing near the lantern room. Staff and visitors report heavy footsteps, doors opening on their own, and the sudden smell of oil or ozone in empty rooms.
