Opened in 1894 as a reform school for troubled boys, Preston Castle quickly gained a darker reputation for abuse and mysterious deaths. The most famous is that of Anna Corbin, a housekeeper murdered in 1950—her spirit is said to wander the corridors calling out her name. Visitors and paranormal teams report slamming doors, shadow figures, and disembodied voices throughout the red-brick towers. Featured on Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters, it remains one of California’s most investigated haunted landmarks.
