Gettysburg Battlefield – USA
Nearest city: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
The site of the Civil War’s bloodiest battle in July 1863, Gettysburg is often called the most haunted battlefield in America. More than 50,000 soldiers were killed or wounded across its fields, ridges, and farms, and reports of paranormal activity have persisted for over a century. Visitors claim to hear phantom cannon fire, ghostly bugle calls, and see apparitions of soldiers marching in formation across the fields. Hotspots include Devil’s Den, Triangular Field, Sachs Covered Bridge, and the Gettysburg Orphanage, each with its own chilling stories. Today the battlefield is a national historic site, but also a pilgrimage point for ghost hunters.
