Kellie’s Castle – Malaysia
Nearest city: Batu Gajah, Perak

Begun in 1915 by Scottish planter William Kellie Smith, this unfinished mansion blends Moorish and Indo-Saracenic design but was abandoned after his sudden death in 1926. Left to the jungle, it soon gained a reputation for the uncanny: visitors report apparitions of Smith himself, a phantom woman in white gliding along the corridors, and unexplained shadows in the wine cellar and rooftop. Ghost tours and TV crews continue to log activity, keeping the castle firmly among Malaysia’s most haunted sites.
