Ararat Asylum

This massive 130-year-old complex is anchored by the spirits of over 13,000 patients who died within its walls, creating a “trauma loop” that manifests as residual and intelligent activity. The most documented entity is Nurse Kerry, who is frequently seen in her starched 19th-century uniform patrolling the Women’s Wing; she is known to “interact” with modern visitors by prodding them with phantom needles or blowing on their necks. A more malevolent presence is “Old Bill,” a former patient in the men’s ward who is blamed for aggressive “shadow masses” that shove investigators and drain high-capacity camera batteries in seconds. Modern activity is concentrated in the Infirmary and the Morgue, where researchers have captured “Class A” EVPs of surgical instruments clattering on stone and the distinct scent of antiseptic on windless nights. Recent 2025 vlogs highlight “intelligent” responses in J-Ward (the annex for the criminally insane), where a spirit known as “The Governor” correctly identifies the names of tour guides through spirit box sessions.
