Built over an 1894 cemetery and once a licensed speakeasy for Al Capone, this site is a “vertical haunting” with activity concentrated in the basement and the penthouse. The most active entity is Elizabeth, an eight-year-old girl often seen in the shadows of the upper floors, and Molly, a former resident of the brothel whose remains were allegedly hidden in the walls. Modern investigators frequently document “phantom cigar smoke” in non-smoking areas and the sound of heavy, rhythmic thumping from the “Dead Man’s Bar” in the basement. Recent 2024 thermal imaging captures show “human-shaped voids” sitting at the bar stools during closed hours. The site is notorious for “intelligent” EVPs that respond to the names of Prohibition-era gangsters and the distinct sound of a woman’s muffled sobbing from behind the brickwork.
