Case Overview

What happened at Majapahit Hotel?

Originally the Oranje Hotel, this colonial landmark was the site of the violent 1945 “Yamato Incident” where revolutionaries tore the blue strip from a Dutch flag to create the Indonesian colors. The most frequent sightings involve a spectral “Dutch Girl” in the Bromo Room and a weeping “Lady in White” in the Java Room, while the ghosts of soldiers are often seen marching through the centennial garden at night. Modern guests consistently report disembodied footsteps in the hallways and the feeling of being watched, phenomena often attributed to the building’s grim history as a Japanese military prison camp during World War II.
