Sendagaya Tunnel

Sendagaya Tunnel is one of Tokyo’s most talked-about urban-haunted tunnels, built in 1964 with a section reportedly constructed over an old cemetery, which forms the core of its haunting reputation. Drivers and taxi operators frequently report seeing a woman in the passenger seat in the rear-view mirror who vanishes when they turn around, along with shadow figures, sudden chills, and radios malfunctioning while passing through. Another recurring legend describes a long-haired female apparition standing near the tunnel walls late at night, believed by some to be tied to the graves disturbed during construction. The tunnel remains a popular late-night paranormal drive route in Japanese ghost lore, regularly featured in urban legend videos, taxi stories, and paranormal blogs documenting mirror apparitions and unexplained presences.
