Known as “Scotland’s most haunted road,” the A75’s Kinmount Straight has been the site of bizarre sightings for decades. Drivers report phantom animals darting across the road, ghostly pedestrians stepping into traffic, and sudden apparitions of screaming figures. One famous 1962 case involved two truckers who swerved to avoid a couple crossing the road, only for the figures to vanish on impact. Reports continue of spectral coaches, medieval horsemen, and unearthly creatures haunting this stretch, cementing its reputation as the “Ghost Road of Scotland.”
