In March 1973, multiple residents near Clearwater Lake outside Piedmont reported a large, glowing object hovering silently over the water before accelerating away at extreme speed. Witnesses described a bright, disc-shaped craft emitting a humming sound, observed independently by campers and locals from different vantage points. The sighting occurred during the peak of the 1973 UFO wave in the United States and was reported to local authorities, though no explanation was ever issued.
