The Cressy Cigar UFO Sighting – Australia

On October 4, 1960, residents of rural Cressy, Tasmania witnessed a massive cigar-shaped craft hovering silently over the hills while several smaller disc-shaped objects moved around it. Anglican minister Rev. Lionel Browning described the main craft as metallic, elongated, and partially obscured by low cloud, remaining motionless for more than ten minutes before shooting upward into the storm cover. Multiple households reported the same formation, prompting police inquiries and drawing interest from regional and later international UFO researchers. The event is considered Tasmania’s most compelling structured-craft sighting of the 20th century.
