Case Overview
What happened at The Skirrid Mountain Inn?
The Skirrid Mountain Inn is a mid–late 17th-century pub with a notorious legend that it once served as a court of law where criminals were sentenced and hanged from an oak beam over the stairwell—with local tradition claiming around 180+ executions and “rope marks” still pointed out on the wood. Its best-known named spirit is Fanny Price, a former landlady said to haunt the rooms and corridors, sometimes preceded by a lavender/perfume smell, with other stories mentioning Henry Price and a “watching” presence on the staircase.
